The Currency Office has been formally established and today launches its official website at currency.gov.vin, where the banknotes and coins of the Network, and the arrangements for reporting counterfeit currency, will be published.

About the Office

The Currency Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network is responsible for the banknotes and coins of the Velocity Interoperability Network: their design, issue, distribution, withdrawal and replacement.

It maintains the register of currency in circulation, publishes the security features by which a genuine note is known, examines suspected counterfeits and exchanges damaged and withdrawn notes and coins at face value.

  1. 6 September 2026

    Currency Office established

    Responsibility for the banknotes and coins of the Network, the register of currency in circulation and the examination of suspected counterfeits.

  2. 6 September 2026

    currency.gov.vin launched

    Press releases, the specifications of the First Series, the security features of genuine notes and the counterfeit reporting procedure published on the official website.

  3. 6 September 2026

    First Series and first statistics announced

    Five notes and eight coins to enter circulation between 5 October and 7 December 2026, and the first statistical release on currency in circulation published.

  4. Forthcoming

    Issue of the First Series

    The 5 and 10 credit notes and all coins enter circulation on 5 October 2026. The opening of the Office's exchange counters and the next quarterly statistical release will be announced in the Newsroom.
