The Currency Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Office is responsible for the banknotes and coins of the Network: their design, issue, distribution, withdrawal and replacement, the maintenance of the register of currency in circulation, and the receipt and examination of suspected counterfeit currency.

With its establishment complete, the Office today launches its official website at currency.gov.vin. The site describes the credit, the unit of account of the Network, and the Interim Issue of notes and coins that has circulated since 10 August 2026; it publishes the specifications of the First Series of banknotes and coins, the security features of genuine notes, the procedure for reporting a suspected counterfeit, and the Office's statistics on currency in circulation.

The Office assumes responsibility for the Interim Issue from the transitional arrangements under which it was put into circulation. Interim notes and coins remain legal tender and continue to be accepted at their face value. Further announcements regarding the Office's structure, its exchange counters and its points of contact will be published in the Newsroom as they become available.
